Manifesto
Toward a European manifesto of urban cultures
Toward a European manifesto of urban cultures
At the end of the sessions, participants will work collectively on drafting a European manifesto aimed at:
- making shared values emerge,
- formalizing common observations,
- identifying priorities,
- laying the foundation of lasting European cooperation.
This manifesto will serve as a foundation for building the future European Street Culture Conference (Assises).
A collective text, not an institutional document
The manifesto is not an institutional document prepared in advance, but a collective text built from the reflections and exchanges held during the Meeting of Stars.
Throughout the gathering, the representatives of the 27 EU countries share their experiences, their visions and the issues they face in their respective countries. These exchanges bring out common observations, shared values and collective perspectives.
The manifesto may notably address:
- the shared values of urban cultures across Europe;
- the challenges faced by those on the ground;
- the transmission and development of practices;
- questions of mobility and European cooperation;
- the place of urban cultures in contemporary society;
- the importance of preserving the spirit of freedom, creativity and independence that defines these cultures.
A symbol and a foundation for the future
The manifesto will serve as a first basis for reflection for the future European Assembly of Urban Cultures (Assises européennes des cultures urbaines), whose aim is to create in Strasbourg a lasting space for dialogue, cooperation and structuring at the European scale.
More than a mere document, the manifesto is meant to become a symbol of the participants' collective will: to build durable links between Europe's urban scenes and to think together about the future of urban cultures in Europe.
